: : : I want to get a Hebert Johnson "Raiders of the Lost Ark" fedora, an exact replica of the one from the movie. When I order it what should I ask for? Any help is greatly appreciated.

: : Just tell them you want the Indy version of the "Poet" model hat they sell, and specify that you want the Raiders style crease. They will then ask you all the particulars (make sure you ask them for some felt sizing pads-they help the hat fit better at first and will help it fit even after a particularly short haircut). They'll even monogram your initials in gold ink inside the hat band! A very nice touch. One thing you should invest in as well is a hat stretcher. One such stretcher "The Hat Jack" can be bought from David Morgan (the whip maker), and they help your hat retain its size when you aren't wearing it, especially after it gets wet.

When you order the "Indy" version of the Poet, all of these things will be understood. The only thing you might want to be sure of is that they put the proper, Dark brown 39mm or inch and a half Indy ribbon on the hat. The color and size of the brim is understood by them. If you try to dictate too much about the brim size, shade of brown, etc., they will think you are trying to tell them how to perform their craft, so just have a little faith that the brim will come the proper width. They've actually sold a lot of the Indy style hat so they know what to do with it. The crease is another matter, however. When you specify the Raiders style crease, don't get too upset if it doesn't come EXACTLY that way. Remember that whoever puts the finishing touches on your hat probably knows how to generally make the Raiders front pinch and crease but may not be a die-hard Indy fan-atic like some of us here, so it may not come picture-perfect. Plus, when the brim is snapped up for packing and shipping, and the hat is put in the box, it will go through many unkind hands on its way to you, requiring that it get a little personal refinement from you and a little cold water.
