ToD censured!?

I was watching my American video tape of ToD when I noticed something
which is very different from the European version I got from television. In the sacrifice scene, Mola Ram touches/caresses the victims chest and then - cut- we see Mola Ram turning around with a heart in his hand. In the European version we actually see his hand
penetrate the skin and reach in for the heart. Why !? has the American
version been censured or what?
Anyway I was a bit frustrated, I like the American version better because it has no subtitles and that can be rather bothersome
when you speak and understand english fluently.
Any thoughts?
