The Indy knife seen briefly in ToD...

I was watching the Temple of Doom today and saw another Indy knife. When indy is about to be whipped by the Big Thuggee, you see a knife when he picks up the whip. It is laying on the whip and has a string around it like it was tied to his leg or something. It could have been kept in his satchel, but in later scenes we see the satchel has nothing else removed from it, besides the stones. Any thoughts????
