I have enjoyed debating this with you, however. Thanks for the give-and-take.

I would submit that the success of the History Channel, etc. doesn't mean the audience was receptive to the YIJC. I would guess the demographics of the History Channel are considerably different than those of the ABC timeslot that the YIJC originally inhabited.

Perhaps it would have fared better on a cable outlet than network. I still hold that Lucas was attempting to reach an audience that didn't want to be reached.

One last thing- maybe I'm reading too much into the series. It may have been little more than an experiment for Lucas to play with some of the new equipment and filming techniques that he was developing. I know he claims to have made the equivalent of 20 or so movies for a fraction of the cost of one Hollywood feature.
