Quite a bit has gone back and forth lately about predistressed vs. new finishing on the Wested jackets. I believe the debate has been based on different perceptions of what the predistressed finish looks like. Now that pictures are posted on the Indy Gear web site, maybe the point can be debated from a common frame of reference.

There is a VAST difference between Abner’s VERY light LC Wested and Rob’s darker Wested. For the record, my Wested Raiders, which is about 1 year old and has seen daily use, is about the same shade as Rob’s.

For my two cents, I like the predistressed hide. I like the heavier feel of the hide. I think the patina looks terrific. With a periodic treatment of pecard dressing, it gets a nice sheen to the finish, giving it a very authentic look. It really does look more like the LC and ToD jackets, in that they do appear to have that overall “weathered” look. I think the New finish definitely looks more like the Raiders jacket.

Again, just my two cents…
