: I'll probably piss off a lot of people with this:
: In my opinion, Sean Connery's Bond was a real prick who treated women like sh*t.
: Why doesn't anyone ever mention that? Or is that what American audiences wanted?

Bond was a creation of his times, specifically written in the 1950's and filmed for the early and mid 1960's, and he therefore was considered the ultimate male Americian role model of his time period. Every American male wanted to believe that he had the "James Bond" character buried somewhere deep in his soul. Of course we know that they weren't, but they liked to THINK they could have been. Politically incorrect or not, just remember the "Rat Pack" (Sinatra, Martin, Davis, et. al.) that reigned supreme in Los Vegas during this same time period that Connery's "Bond" was in the theaters. They acted the same way, and did it in real life, and are still spoken of with great reverence by people. Not saying I agree or disagree, but let's keep in mind the time period these movies were produced. Regards. Michaelson
