On 3/18/97, "Spokespeople for New Line said that Flanery left with no
ill-regard for the production; it's just that the actor was taking the
role of West in a different direction and look than they originally
wanted. In Entertainment Weekly (with LIS cast on front), "Originally
Sean Patrick Flanery (Powder) was picked for Major West, but he was
dropped during rehearsals when it became clear he was physically too
diminutive to act against Hurt ("William is a towering figure,"
explains produer-writer Akiva Goldsman); LeBlanc took his place..."
Read the article from EW, you'll realize that SPF made the correct
decision and bailed out of LIS in time. Hurt is a flake, Oscar winner
or not. The best thing in that movie is Gary Oldman. IMO, they should
have made the movie cheesey like the Brady Bunch movies. Wait until
it's .49 at Hastings to rent!
