This is especially for Ron, the unfailing champion of the notion that Indy would make a great animated series:
This morning, very early, I caught the new computer animated series Starship Troopers. It was actually pretty good, and the level of animation, both during action and during closeups of the characters in conversation was excellent. Additionally, there was plenty of bug-zapping violence, which always scares the people who are convinced that violent video games and tv shows are the source of all juvenile violence, but is essential if there is ever going to be an animated Indy or Indy-esque series.
Now, to the point. The show is produced by BKN, the people who brought us Pokemon. BKN also produced the Jumanji series and I think a few other cartoons that tie in with movies. So they are already agreeable to the idea of transferring movie storylines to animated form. They are also very much on the cutting edge of young adult entertainment, eschewing the traditional goofiness of animated television.
They are also looking to expand their empire, so maybe its time for someone to pitch the idea of an animated Indy to them.
Check out Starship Troopers and the new series RosWell Conspiracies (a cliffhanger format series)
