Now this is only a theory, but I suspect that Spielberg and Lucas must have some deal with Laserdisc producers to prop up that dying format by not releasing titles on DVD at the same time as the videotapes and laserdiscs. Laserdisc would be dead by now, except that certain titles are not yet available on DVD. When Lucas and Spielberg's blockbusters come out on DVD, as well as some older classics like Lawrence of Arabia, etc., it will be the nail in the coffin.

For now DVD fans can look forward to "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" and "The Mummy". There is also a rumor that "Saving Private Ryan" may come out in November. I hope it's true! (But have my doubts)

Cheers,
Abner
