Temple query

ok just wondering but in temple when indy is having that fight with the big huge guy and the huge guy gets his like "scarf" or toga or whtevr he has on him cought in the big roller killer thingy ,does indy try and help him get out or is he just using him to get up on the little cat walk thingy
