Your theory sounds fine but you left out a big glitch, the fly in the Indy ointment so to speak. George Lucas. The reason we're forced to wait til 2005 for Indy IV is because no one's allowed to touch it until Lucas is done filming "Star Wars" episodes two and three.

I'd love to be proven wrong and see Indy IV in 2001 but I wouldn't hold my breath waiting, you want to be alive and healthy in 2005 just in case.
