I own a rather large book called the Oxford Campanion to Archaeology. Whenever I hear something about the archaeological world, I grab this book (which has more or less become my Bible) and try to look up whatever the hell it is they're talking about. When this newest predicament with Indy going to Brazil in search of this golden idle called "the dragon of the sun," I racked my brain trying to find out what civilization existed in Brazil that would have advanced metallurgy to create golden artifacts. I searched through my book and found that the answer is "none." The people that lived there hadn't evolved past cheifton states similar to natives in North America. That is why I have a hard time with the forum novel. It has no place in real world archaeology.
