: : Thatīs grrrrrreat news!!! Finally itīs possible for me and to other European IndyFans to order Indy-movies from America without any problems with VHS-formats!!!

: I'm not a DVD expert, but as I understand it, DVDs although identical in form are encoded with "region codes," which preclude people from Europe playing US discs and vice versa.

: Someone with more DVD knowledge should be able to elaborate, or tell me I'm completely offbase.

: On the bright side, they will probably release the Indy DVDs for all the DVD regions.

Discs for Asia, Europe, and North America are indeed differently encoded. Was Lucas talking about Indy on DVD only in Europe or in the US too? I can't wait to get some- but I think a Christmas release is overly optimistic unless the factory is already churning them out. While DVDs are cheaper to make than tapes, it takes a while to get the "presses rolling" to make them.

Cheers,
Abner
