Another mystery

I've read a number of posts asking about various mysteries in the
Indy saga (e.g., the unconscious worker by the temple, Indy's escape
from the falling tank, etc.). Here's one I've wondered about for a
long while, but have never seen any mention. Namely, in the Last
Crusade, how does Indy catch his shoulder bag strap over the already
exploded gun barrel and, more mysteriously to me, how does he get
himself off? If you look at the scene to which I refer, the end of
the barrel is hugh... seems it would have taken some real acrobatics
to end up hanging from the strap. Any ideas of solutions?
