: I was just browsing through the Indy gear site when I noticed the info on the Cooper jacket. It said that it had been made for the release of Raiders and that only 2,000 had been released then. The strange thing is that I bought my Cooper Indy jacket, brand new, at a Ross store (big chain in Calif) in 1989, to coincide with the release of Last Crusade. I distinctly remember it being advertised in the Lucas Fan Club back then as well, so I don't think Indy Gear is correct about this.

: By the way, my Cooper is still holding up well after 10 years with only a new liner needed. I am waiting, however, for my new Wested.

Actually, I've never been to one, but their commercials are familiar.

Back to Indy...
Your claim brings another piece to the puzzle; I've never heard this
before. From what I know, U.S. Wings brought the jacket back two years
ago to a previously unsuccessful Indy market. Actually, it was probably
due to the poor "marketing" Mr. Hack informed me of. By the way, the
Cooper Indy style jacket is the #1 seller at U.S. Wings.

I too, recall seeing an Indy Jacket being offered by Lucasfilm.
The fact that Lucasfilm, Ross, and maybe some other stores carried
the jacket around LC though, does not necessarily mean that they were
in full production. My guess is that Cooper may have just spun off some jackets
and pulled them out of the hat for promoting the film--
just as they did for Raiders. They probably did it for ToD too, anyone know?

Anyway, if they (Cooper)had been successful in marketing their own jacket,
they probably would have gone into production themselves. It's my
guess that Mr. Hack from U.S. Wings saw their position and chose
to take advantage of the power of advertising to properly
promote & distribute the jacket.
