Indiana Jones is a big enough character that he can be played by some actor other than Harrison Ford. Consider, he's been played by six actors already (same as Bond)
Although I think Brad Pitt would be a bad choice. The latest actor I've latched onto as a possible Indy is David James Elliott who plays Harm on the TV show "JAG." He's a relative unknown and could handle the mantle of Indiana Jones quite well.
I think the Indy series should stay in the 1930's or 1940's. Indy is a character of that age and I'd rather not see him wandering through the "Me Decade."
