... what specifically inspired him to do the Raiders' truck scene was a scene from an old Saturday-morning serial episode of Zorro (not the Guy Williams' Disney-produced version in the 1950's, but one that was much earlier). In that episode, Zorros tries to catch a stagecoach, initially on horseback... and it went almost exactly how the Raiders' truck scene went (especially how Zorro was dragged by the stagecoach holding his whip, and eventually climbed aboard).
