A question about the Flying Wing...

I took a look at the specs for the Flying Wing and it reminded me of something that's always bothered me.
In "Raiders" Indy sees the Flying Wing and realizes that their gonna use it to transport the Ark out of the desert. He tells Marion that they will stow away on the plane and be hidden inside when the Ark gets loaded.
My question is where does Indy think he and Marion are gonna hide? The Flying Wing appears to be extremely tight fitting inside. I'm not sure there's even room for the crate that holds the Ark much less two stow aways. I don't think Indy intended to steal the plane and fly it himself since we know he's no pilot. So there's no way they could hide aboard that plane without being caught.

Anybody care to speculate about this?
