There was actually quite a bit of new footage. Here's what I noticed (I also haven't watched the original eps in a while):

(1) new establishing shots at the beginning
(2) The whole segment from when Indy tells Nancy that he is going to New mexico on spring break, through the train scene with Indy & his father and on to when Indy & frank head out for Mexico (up until they hitch a ride) is all new

The opening scene with Indy reading the Tom Swift book and talking to Nancy while in his baseball uniform may have been new - I remember it opening with the next scene when Indy is working in the ice cream parlor.
