The Indy trademark is ripped paper?

On indianajones.com if you look at the edges of the site you can see it's supposed to be ripped and broken down paper. And on Indyfan(No offense Micah) to post on the message board icon there is a scroll with ripped sides and edges. On the novels also there is a lot of ripped paper back drops and some ripped paper scrolls that stand for the background of the title of the book. Why always ripped scrolls and paper? Well see ya's, Shorty.
