Alden Question - Regarding Width

Just one question for you Alden owners. I just received mine, great boot, fits nice and snug and I can walk for miles and they don't even come close to bothering me. I had them measured at an orthopedic shop and ordered a 10D. Now are they supposed to fit snugly for the width? They are not uncomfortable but I can feel the arch support. Toes have lots of room and so does the ball of the foot on the sides, it is just where the arch is. Is this normal??
