: Yes, it would - but then, that’s why there are several holes in the floor for the Staff of Ra. Remember when Indy was checking his notes and examining the holes just before he inserted the staff? He was determining which hole was the correct one for the time of year. If you look at the scene again, there’s a whole slew of those little holes in the floor - apparently, one for each day of the year that the sun would shine through the roof at an angle that could be used to determine the Well of Souls’ location.
