To the best of my knowledge, the correct specs of the brim are 2 3/4 " on the front and back, and 2 1/2 " on the sides. This is known as a dimensional cut brim. Keep in mind that this was on a 7 1/4 sized fedora. Whether or not this would change as the hat size goes up is open to debate. Personally my hat size is 7 1/4, and I have cut my fedoras down to these specs, and they look right to me. I too have an Akubra on order, and I plan on having the brim cut to 2 7/8 on the front and back, and 2 5/8 on the sides, just to see the effect. Steve
