: It’s also worth noting that when the National Film Registry began back in 1989, the original “Star Wars” was on the list - it was one of the very first 25 films so recognized (25 films are added each year), and at just 12 years of age, it was the youngest film on the list at the time (films have to be at least 10 years old to get on the list, in addition to having great artistic, historical, or cultural value). “American Graffiti” was also added not too long ago, making the third Lucas / Ford collaboration to be recognized.

: : It was announced that "Raiders Of The Lost Ark" was added to the National Film Registry. That means it will be preserved for eternity as one of the greatest films of all time (which we already knew!)
