: I think that Lucasfilm needs to do a special edition of the Indy films. When you watch them in 1999, they don't hold up that well. The special effects and stunts look just awful after all this time has passed. I'm now embarrased to admit to anybody that I am an Indy fan. If anyone asks me about Indy, I act like he's no longer cool and act like I'm glad that they will never make another one. Lucasfilm needs to redo the sound and picture quality too. It's such a shame. In their day, those were pretty good films. But now in 1999, those films look worse than the action movie seriels from the 1920's.

The effects and stunts may no longer quite define the state-of-the-art, but that’s a far cry from “just awful”. I think the films hold up very well indeed. To me, a lot of modern effects, particularly a lot of CG effects, don’t look as good or interesting as more traditional effects (when the latter are done right, of course). Those films were pretty good in their day, and they’re still pretty good now (actually, for the most part they’re great! ;-). And believe me, if you think they don’t look as good as the serials of the 1920s / ’30s, you haven’t seen many of those serials. ;-) Not only that, but technical merits aside, the Indy films are still vastly superior in most other respects to a lot of the junk being churned out now (IMHO, of course ;-).
