: : Hi All,

: : My girlfriend just bought me the Infernal Machine. When I started
: : the installation process, it asked me whether I wanted to do the
: : "standard installation" (approx. 56MB) or the "complete installation"
: : (approx. 870MB). I assumed if I did the complete installation, I
: : wouldn't need to have a CD in when playing the game. However, even
: : with the complete installation, you need to insert a CD.

: : Can anyone tell me what the difference is between the "standard" and
: : "complete" installations? If there is an advantage to having the
: : complete installation, I'd be willing to use 870MB of my hard drive;
: : if not, I can always use the space for other things. Any help is
: : greatly appreciated.

: : Regards,

: I think the CD might just be for anti-piracy purposes, to prevent somebody copying the game and playing it without the disk. Did you notice the game accessing the CD during play? I have the standard installation and there is a noticable slowdown especially during the map scenes.

: Regards,
: Mark

I suspect you and The Fiddler (see below) are correct... it probably
is for piracy reasons. I didn't notice if the CD was being accessed
during the game (I was too consumed with playing to notice :-)... I'll
have to pay more attention next time.

Thanks to you both for the insight.

Regards,
Professor Jones
