I'm stupid... please help with Level 1 question

Hi Gang,

I've only had a brief time to play the Infernal Machine and am not yet
through Level 1. My problem is that I cannot get Indy to whip the
post (I'm in the area where the snake first appears). I've killed the
snake and got the treasure in the small room... I can climb on the
first small block and jump to the second block... I can see the
"whipable post" sticking out of the wall above me, but Indy never
looks up and sees the post (as he did near the beginning of the game).

What am I doing wrong? I'm stupid and can't figue it out. Thanks
for any help.
