Sir Richard Burton actually got my vote for Hero of the Millenium.
No one else that I can think of took as much personal risk, resulting in great contribution to arts and literature (The man translated the Kama Sutra...how can you top that?)
Additionally, the Indy connection is made in (I think) Philosopher's Stone by Max McCoy, where Indy goes after a city orginally (fictionally) discovered by Burton. Indy muses on his early adoration of SRFB.
Just my slant on tings.
