I watched The Hollywood Follies this weekend, and we see Young Indy having a few drinks, ranging from champagne to whiskey depending on the situation.

I agree that drinking is a part of the character, especially given the era he's in. I do admit that I'm glad Indy doesn't smoke- it shows a little departure from the stereotype.

Also, the drinking isn't glamorized, like you see in some of the Bond films- but they are a product of the time in which they were made. Brosnan's Bond has different values than Connery's.
