I used Fiebings on my beat-up pre-distressed jacket because it was becoming too light. I only did this as a last resort and because I don't care what happens to this old jacket, and have used it to experiment with sandpaper, etc. While the results have been satisfactory I wouldn't put dye on a nice new one! Not recommended for long term care or a brand new jacket. As long as you ordered new leather you should have no reason to worry about the color. Incidentally, Fiebing's leather dye works well on gun stocks! If you are interested, Fiebings is available at Tandy leather. Meltonian is available at better shoe stores or you might try ordering from- http://www.congressleather.com/clmeltonan.htm

Cheers,
Abner
