I have a question on the Wested jackets

I read in one of Abners' posts that Wested no longer gets its leather from the company it did during the movies. So does that mean that really it is impossible to have an exact replica. The lambskin I and many of you have is cut in the same patterns, but Abner said Peter said that the jackets in the film were a heavier lambskin than the current one used. So what is the closest to the actuall leather in weight and look. Is it the lambskin used on the new jackets.The prte-distressed material, or the cowhide. I was sent a sample of the cowhide and it was darker and grainier than the lambskin. I will appreiciate your thoughts on this. It is too bad the company that supplied the original skins went out of buisness. Thanks again,
