I believe that's spelled Garand.

: : : : Hey everyone.
: : : : So many new faces,so many old ones gone.
: : : : Ive only been away a month or so and look what ive missed.
: : : : Well,i hope everyone had a good x-mas and new year.(i got a card
: : : : of Noel Howard too,what a nice guy!)
: : : : Sorry i havent been around but dont worry,im back now and as healthy
: : : : as ever(almost).
: : : : Cheers,
: : : : Ken.

: : : : P.S:Michaelson,I thought you would like to know that ive added quite
: : : : a few nice pieces to my weapon collection,a nice 1944 mosin nagant
: : : : carbine,a 1913 mauser schnellfeurer, and a beautiful 1880's sword
: : : : cane.(walking stick).thought you might be interested!

: : : :

: : : I wondered what the heck ever happened to you. Very happy to see you back. I, too, already own a Mosin Nagant 1944 carbine, and had custom rounds loaded for it with a 180 grain soft nosed bullet. VERY nice shooter, though you'll have to admit, very ugly rifle. Glad to see you're back. Regards. Michaelson

: : I dunno i quite like the carbine.Now the 1930's version,thats a different
: : story.I heard that standard russian squads shared one nagant between
: : 10 men.Jeez thats tough going.Especially against highly equiped ss
: : commandoes.I own one.1939.Its too long.Much too long.But its ww2 history
: : so i bought it.And although i have never fired one,you know the rules
: : over here,i would agree that they were good shooters. Many of the better
: : ones were used as sniper rifles by American sqauds during the war apparantly.
: : I wouldent take one into battle though!
: : Give me an Enfield no4 any day!
: : Cheers,
: : Kenneth.

: Get a M-1 grand, thats a real firearm from WWII or a Thompson.

We were discussing British and Russian firearms, as Kenneth is in Ireland. Garands are bringing a premium price, at least one that is shootable, and the ones coming from Springfield Armory are awfully pricy too. So are the Thompsons, which are being made by a pick up company (as are the Garands, because the current Springfield isn't the original company) from a reorganization and not the original makers of the old 1927 Tommy.
At least the Lee Enfields I mentioned are from original parts, and the Mosin Nagants are the real items, as no one picked those up after the Korean war for production. Anyway, we're getting a little far afield from Indy, so I'll climb down from my soap box now. Regards. Michaelson
