I wouldn't hold that too much against the movie (it has other, bigger problems) considering when it was made.
I just saw "The African Queen" this week and during all the scenes where the boat goes down the rapids you can tell that they used dummies for Katherine Hepburn and Humphrey Bogart and during all the scenes where they used a backscreen shot the main images are ringed in a green glow. But the movie was made in the fifties and if you ignore those smaller mistakes it's a great film.

Technology keeps getting better and better and maybe one day ther'll be no mistakes in movies at all.
