The gun thing, maybe it was a tried and tested response from Indy when being approached by sword weilding lunatics. In Raiders he looked so weary as if almost to say

"Here we go again!"

Maybe we can assume that this was a regular occurence.

: I notice that both Last Crusade and Temple of Doom have short, little references to Raiders. In the Last Crusade, in the underground library tomb, Elsa notices the inscription on the wall dating back to the Ark of the Covenant, and Indy quickly notices it and dismisses it, while being accompanied the the "Ark Trek" musical theme from Raiders. In the Temple of Doom, before getting on the rope bridge, Indy is approached by two Thuggee swordsman, who look just like the swordsman in Raiders. Indy reaches for his gun with a little "knowing" smile and notices that it's gone, then proceeds to beat up the bad guys the old fashioned way, and all the while we hear the "Basket Chase" music from Raiders. Of course we all know the TOD happened BEFORE Raiders, so how would it have made sense to do that, besides for the sake of the audience watching? And how come both movies made these little homage to the first movie? These aren't really any major questions, just comments.
