: Patterson:

: Your collar idea sounds great! I was thinking about taking my Wested to a leather specialist and having them install the leather inside the collar and inside zipper flaps. I may do this depending on your answer to the next paragraph.

: Peter says on his web-site Each jacket is "CERTIFIED as an exact replica as the ORIGINAL FILM VERSION". Would our jackets in their present state be like the ones on the film, or are they missing this detail? Usually when movies are made minor detail is given to the insides of garments ( to save money).I just wanted to know, I like your idea, but I also like things origional. Wich version would be origional? Your thoughts.

: Sincerely,

: S. William

First Point of Authenticity: The leather facing inside the collar is authentic to the jackets used in the movies. I can recall clearly which scenes in Raiders and ToD where you can see the leather lining on the collar.

Second Point of Improving on Authenticity: The facing down the inside of the zipper (at least on the right hand side) is not "authentic" but will save your lining down the road. During movie production, HF probably never said "Hey send this back! The lining will NEVER last like this!" - right? The zipper on the inside pocket is just nice to have, and nobody will ever see it.

Peter himself points out some other details, which are not really authentic - mainly the zippers. During production for the movies, cheap nickel zippers were used, as they were the only ones available. They kept breaking. The wardrobe people kept trying to color them so they looked like brass, because they thought they looked shabby on screen. The current zipper you get from Peter is made from brass. They will last forever.

To me, it is the cut and fit of the jacket Peter makes that really counts. It is cut from the same pattern used for HF. I've owned Disney's, Cooper's, and Wested's. The Wested is the only you look at and say, yea, that's it! The differences we're discussing make the jacket you're buying into something you can wear every day, and pass on to your kids some day with a really great story to tell about it.

Hope this helps.

Cheers!

Patterson
