: Here's a real stupid question, but something I've been wondering for some time now. In Raiders, when Indy and Sallah are talking outside and Sallah tells Indy that the head of the archaeological dig was "Belloch", Indy starts laughing and corrects him, "Belloq, Belloq!" and he starts laughing hysterically. Why does he do this? Is it because Sallah mispronounces his name or because it's so funny to Indy that he keeps meeting up with Belloq? It just bugs me not knowing.

Hey. I'm just surprised that Sallah isn't familiar with Belloq. According to the novels, Indy and Belloq haven't really known eachother all that long. I'd always figured (before the novels came out) that he and Belloq had been rivals since their younger days.
