The Trouble With 'Harry'

Studio pushes Spielberg to make a decision.
Not many people deliver ultimatums to Steven Spielberg (unless it's along the lines of "You've got to stop eating that stuff or you'll damage your kidneys").

But the New York Daily Post claims that Warner Bros has told the 'Saving Private Ryan' director to start work on 'Harry Potter And The Sorcerer's Stone' immediately, or pass the project on to someone else.

Spielberg has been procrastinating about his next directorial step for several months, with stories continuously linking him to 'Potter', 'Minority Report' (with Tom Cruise) and sci-fi pic 'A.I.'.

When Spielberg's spokesperson Marvin Levy confirmed that the director had returned to work this week following his recent health problems, he admitted that it's "anyone's guess" what Spielberg's next project will be.

Warner isn't prepared to twiddle its thumbs with the hottest literary property of 90s, however, and wants to see the first 'Harry Potter' movie reach the big screen next year. If Spielberg does pass, Robert Zemeckis is reportedly favourite to step in.
