I probably would have said star wars until phantom menace came out. Now that the force has been explained away as some cosmic bacteria, and jar jar binks has taken ewok-itis to a whole new level, a ton of magic went of that series.

Lord of the Rings is close, both the books and the BBC audio recordings.

Robert Jordan's wheel of time series is up there too, it's really awesome.

Back to the Future...no way...
Godfather...let down by the terrible third chapter...
I'd rank the Aliens series up near the top as well, along with Schwarzenneger's four-peat of Terminator, Terminator 2, Total Recall, and Predator.

Still, the books are all pretty good, the young indiana jones chronicles have some excellent episodes, and the big screen trilogy is about as good as moviemaking gets. Indy is the best.
