I think people missed the Point of the Knight Question

I also wondered this. He WOULD HAVE GONE CRAZY. Being alone for hundreds of years with a book and some grails. AND he can still speak perfect English,despite the fact he hadn't had many visitors - Indy being the first person there in quite a few years. The question wasn't WHY he was there, more What was he doing while he guarded the Grail?
