IndyGear is not compiling a "file" of members addresses. The contest(s) are just to allow IndyGear to become more interactive. Unless you do provide an address, and do win, how can your prize be mailed to you? As suggested, what you may want to do is provide a photo that can be scanned in by John, and supply an email for him to contact you should you win. If you win, and you decide you want your prize, THEN you could provide an address for the prize to be mailed to. There is nothing sinister regarding this contest, as your posting seems to imply.
