The Saving Private Ryan trucks were 2 1/2 ton Army trucks from WWII sometimes nicknamed "deuce and a half"s. They were made by companies like General Motors in the US, and were one of the major contributors to the the Allied victory. Depsite "blitzkrieg", and some excellent panzer divisions, the German Army in WWII was still relying primarliy on horse-drawn carriages for supplies. The Raiders truck looks to be a 2 1/2 ton military truck, just a German one.
