Yes it is - there is no reason to ever go down there

You have to have equipped a key or something when you walk down the map room - but you have to check your watch to make sure you enter at the right time - then when you walk into the map room with the key thing it will show you a map of the MESA field and where the ark is located.

: 3) What does it mean at the end and beginning of a game when indy is hovering over the ark on that ladder looking thing?

That is the point system - the higher you are the more points you earned.

hmmm...can't remember - but there is a point to it - I think there is an exit on the right side fo the room somewhere...sorry can't remember...but I do remember going in there many times...
