Opening sequence of ToD sorta has a Maltese Falcon feel...

I was thinking about this when I watched "The Maltese Falcon" for the
first time in about 6 years.

OK, in the opening sequence of ToD, we see Indy like we've never seen
him in Raiders, wearing a tux and and in a nightclub (Club Obi-Wan
repectively :). Also, Indy seems to be obtaining artifacts totally
different from his Raiders methods. He's not journeying out to some
exotic jungle to find an idol outwitting booby traps every step of the
way, or digging in Egypt to find the Ark in a snake-infested Well of
the Souls. Here, he's making a trade for a priceless diamond with
some seedy gangsters. Not totally unlike Humphrey Bogart in "The
Maltese Falcon." There, Bogie is also dealing with some questionable
types for this black falcon (though Bogie here, is not terribly
interested in this falcon, he's basically caught in the middle). Not
to mention, Sydney Greenstreet in "Maltese" slips a mikey (sp?) in
Bogie's drink and gets knocked out. In ToD, Indy gets poison slipped
in a drink of champagne and he nearly dies (the good ol' antidote
saves Indy).

Anyone notice this before?
