Read the MasterBook, it tells you everything you need to know.

    Just kidding! :D

Products and supplements came out for The World of Indiana Jones from 1994 to 1997. In 1994, West End Games had two sets of rules for its RPG's: the Star Wars RPG had one rules system (later called the D6 system), while everything else used the MasterBook rules system. As it turned out, the MasterBook system was very detailed (which was great for slower-paced mystery games, for example), but very cumbersome for the faster-paced RPG's like Indiana Jones.

Through the first half of its run, the Indiana Jones RPG supplements had character statistics using the MasterBook system, but then it switched to the D6 system. The D6 system is so much better for a game like Indiana Jones, and very enjoyable... and you don't need to use those two ten-sided die or that deck of cards. Just make sure you have a bunch of six-sided die. West End Games RPG's that came out later (like MIB, Xena/Hercules, etc.) already had the D6 rules incorporated in them. :)

What would help immensely is if you also ordered The D6 System rulebook from West End Games. It's not very expensive, and actually not very thick... but it provides all the core rules for using the D6 system, even though its a generic system that's meant to be used for any genre (I guess it's West End Games' version of GURPS ;) ).

Here are the list of The World of Indiana Jones products that came out, along with the year they came out and which rules systems they used:

1) The World of Indiana Jones boxed set (includes the The World of Indiana Jones WorldBook, the MasterBook rule book, two ten-sided dice, and the MasterDeck card deck) [MasterBook system- 1994].

2) The World of Indiana Jones WorldBook (same thing as in the boxed set, but you could buy it separately if you wish) [MasterBook system- 1994].

3) Indiana Jones and the Rising Sun [MasterBook system - 1994].

4) Raiders of the Lost Ark Sourcebook [MasterBook system - 1994].

5) Indiana Jones and the Tomb of the Templars [MasterBook system - 1995].

6) Indiana Jones and the Lands of Adventure [MasterBook system - 1995].

7) Indiana Jones and the Golden Vampires [MasterBook system 1995].

8) Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Sourcebook [MasterBook system - 1996].

9) Indiana Jones Adventures [D6 system - 1996] ---> This one is key!!! It has the D6 stats, skills and stuff specific for the Indiana Jones world in the beginning of the book for character creation and stuff (although you would still need to get the D6 rulebook to play the game). It also has a MasterBook/D6 System conversion section at the end of the book (in case you've already created characters using the MasterBook system).

10) Indiana Jones Artifacts [D6 system - 1996] ---> This one also has a MasterBook/D6 System conversion section at the end of the book.

11) Indiana Jones and the Sky Pirates and Other Tales [D6 system - 1996] ---> This one also has a MasterBook/D6 System conversion section at the end of the book.

12) Indiana Jones - Magic & Mysticism: The Dark Continent [D6 system - 1997] ---> This one also has a MasterBook/D6 System conversion section at the end of the book.

13) The World of Indiana Jones 25mm figures (unpainted)- Dr. Jones & Friends (includes Indy, student, and reporter) [1994]

14) The World of Indiana Jones 25mm figures (unpainted)- Indy's Allies (includes Sallah, professor, and spy) [1994]

-------------

The good news is that all the MasterBook stats are easy to convert to the D6 system, so don't be afraid to get all the books if you can. And all the books you currently have are still invaluable for playing the Indiana Jones game because of all the information in them (and like I said, converting the MasterBook stats to the D6 system is easy). :)

I hope that all helped! Sorry if I burdened you with too much information. :(

P.S. = If you and your friends are roleplaying an Indiana Jones game, don't forget to have the CD soundtracks to all three Indy movies nearby with a CD player... the Indy music will help give your Indy game a much more "Indiana Jones" feel to it, and will help with the exciting moments (much like the soundtracks help with a movie). :)
