What soundcard are you using? Creative's crap SB Live (should be named Dead) won't work with DOS games under wind0ze. You need to reboot in plain DOS mode. SB 128 and other PCI cards from Creative will usually have the same problem. Some games that check SB16 physically won't work at all, though I don't think FoA does that. SB Live also won't work at all with many Asus motherboards. If that's your case, you'll need a BIOS upgrade, 1020.10 beta, available from Asus Germany FTP.

It's best to get a classic system to play classic games like FoA. You can buy an old 486 with AWE32 and a decent Matrox card for that, and oall old games will run great.
