Lucas isn't a director. He isn't even much of a writer. (He had major help on the SW scripts and his SW novelization was ghosted) What Lucas is, if anything, is a producer. I've looked at how TPM turned out and it's the strongest possible argument against letting Lucas direct an Indy installment. I also get the sense that Lucas and Ford are not really the best of buddies. Ford would work for Spielberg again in a second, but not Lucas.
