Hi Fiddler:
This has been referred to as Spielberg's "signature" shot. These are the ones I can come up with where a character is shot against harsh light:
1) Close Encounter's - When Barry is abducted, and many other scenes!
2) Empire of the Sun...
3) The Colour Purple
4) You could consider Always, the scene where Richard Dreyfus is shot against the fridge light...but that's a stretch.
5) The underwater shots from the opening of Jaws...mmm Chrissy...
6) THE BEST - the finale of 'Last Crusade.'
Any others gang?
