It is tough. I've done it myself and it came out real nice, but I came close to sanding too close. The Petersham ribbon adds a lot too. In watching Raiders again, I feel my hat is real close. Not quite as tall and the crown tapers down just a bit too much. However, I do feel a bit of satisfaction in knowing I did it myself. It will do nicley untill I order a Herbert Johnson
