Is the answer in the Raiders novel?

Isn't there a line at the end of the raiders novel, where indy and brody are talking to musgrove, where Indy says, rather indignantly, ' ...and I lost my favorite hat'...?

: I noticed that in Raiders when Marion and Indy are on the boat, Marion takes off Indy's hat and throws it on the ground and then we never see the hat again. Did Katanga give it back or did he lose it? I think when Raiders was made, maybe they didn't even think that his hat would be that important? I don't know, what do you think?
