What you're reading about is not a DVD per se. In Asia, VCD's are a very popular movie format. I believe they use mpeg1 where DVD players use mpeg2 compression. Suffice it to say, because DVD is mpeg2 and the mpeg standards are backward compatible, DVD players...or at least some of them...can play VCD's. Does this mean you don't have to wait for the DVD any longer...no...VCD's are a much lower quality than DVD. I've never actually seen one but I believe they are a little lower quality than Laserdisc. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong). Point being, just because your DVD player will play it, don't get fooled into thinking it is the DVD, as there is a vast difference.

: What is the deal with this sale on Ebay? I didn't think the trilogy had been released on DVD yet. Pirated?
